Community Service

One of the most important parts of being a Mocha Mom is giving back. We do so in many ways though giving support to each other, our families and our communities. The following community service projects are ongoing:

Turning Point

Turning Point, a shelter for battered women and children, is in constant need of donated supplied and services. Mocha Moms Lehigh Valley has sponsored and maintains a room at the shelter, provides ethnic health and beauty aids, assists with bulk mailings to distribute newsletters and fundraising letters. We are in the process of raising funds to provide items on their current needs list as well as turkeys for the holidays.

Operation Backpack

Through Operation Backpack, a national annual back-to-school drive, Mocha Moms Lehigh Valley donated 13 backpacks filled with specific school supplies to its newest ongoing community service recipient, The Volunteers of America Children’s Center. So many youngsters in our community know what it means to be homeless or abused and live with uncertainty and fear. Volunteers of America is able to provide support for children and at-risk youth and offer a sense of confidence and hope while relieving the children’s families of a significant financial burden.

The Children’s Center

The Volunteers of America Children’s Center is an affordable early childhood program for children ages 13 months to 10 years. Mocha Moms Lehigh Valley began it’s service with The Children’s Center by donating 13 backpacks (Pre-K to Grade 12) via Operation Backpack. Mocha Moms continues to support the school’s needs with donations of holiday turkeys and book donations for the school library.

Success for Teens

The SUCCESS Foundation™ has created a personal development curriculum for teens to inspire them to reach new levels of achievement. Mocha Moms Lehigh Valley is trained to teach this curriculum entitled “Success For Teens.” We are currently looking for local churches, community centers, etc. where teens congregate and could put this information to use. Participants in the “Success For Teens” seminar will receive a free book and a CD. If your organization is interested in scheduling a seminar, please contact us.
